NST is a multi-award winning company, including Best Director UK Theatre Awards 2014 (The Seagull), Regional Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards 2015, Best Design UK Theatre Awards 2015 (The Hudsucker Proxy), and the 2017 Renee Stepham UK Theatre Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre (Fantastic Mr Fox).  In 2017 NST took on the running of NST City – the north building within Southampton’s new city centre arts venue known as Studio 144 – whilst continuing to run NST Campus, its existing 490 seater theatre based at the University of Southampton. NST City houses a 447 seat main house theatre, a 138 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and education spaces and a cafĂ© bar and bistro. 


Seaside in the Square: Call out for submissions

Dates: Friday 19th July - Sunday 11th August

Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Go! Southampton and John Hansard Gallery are looking for theatre companies, street and performance artists, community groups and event makers to submit a proposal to perform at Seaside in the Square in Southampton’s Guildhall Square during Friday 19th July  - Sunday 11th August 2019.

If you have a workshop, activity, performance or other event that you think would work well for Seaside in the Square, we welcome your application. These events may: have a participatory element; be a piece of street theatre, music, circus or dance; family or children’s show that can be performed outside; a local community group or choir; a traveling installation that would be perfect on the beach in the square. They may be anywhere between 5 and 60 minutes long, and performed once or many times over the summer – we’re open to hearing from you!

  • Times of day which best suit your activity
  • Target audience (i.e Family/Children/Adults etc)
  • Fees

We are particularly interested in hearing from people, groups and companies from Southampton and Hampshire, and will ensure that this event reflects the wider city's diversity and intersectionality.

Marketing Assistant

This role sits in the Development and Communications team and is responsible for supporting the team in delivering our many marketing campaigns.  The role includes:

  • supporting the delivery of all marketing and communications campaigns from conception to evaluation;
  • designing and producing marketing materials, proof reading copy and liaising with external agencies and companies;
  • obtaining current artist biographies and photographs or publicity materials from the cast, creative teams and agents, ensuring permissions/ copyright is cleared prior to production;
  • managing print distribution on campus and front of house/foyer displays and maintaining an up to date print inventory;
  • writing copy, press releases for shows, liaising with and pitching to media.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with proven experience in B2C marketing, have experience of using CRM and e-marketing systems, website CMS and working with designers and printers. More importantly, you should have enthusiasm, energy and stamina, be a good team member, be skilled in design and copy writing, possess a high degree of accuracy and proof reading abilities with excellent communication skills and a high level of IT skills including Microsoft Office.
