NST is a multi-award winning company, including Best Director UK Theatre Awards 2014 (The Seagull), Regional Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards 2015, Best Design UK Theatre Awards 2015 (The Hudsucker Proxy), and the 2017 Renee Stepham UK Theatre Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre (Fantastic Mr Fox). In 2017 NST took on the running of NST City – the north building within Southampton’s new city centre arts venue known as Studio 144 – whilst continuing to run NST Campus, its existing 500 seater theatre based at the University of Southampton. NST City houses a 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and education spaces and a cafÃ© bar and bistro.

NST is looking for five/six new Trustees who are interested in theatre and the arts and are keen to champion opportunities for theatre to benefit the people of Southampton and the wider region by helping ensure it makes a key contribution to the cultural life and economy of the City.
NST is a successful and ambitious producing theatre company based in Southampton with a new 400-seater venue in the heart of the Arts Quarter. It has a long history within the city dating back to 1964 through its second venue at the Campus, University of Southampton and in 1982 became an independent trust. It is an Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisation and is also funded by the Southampton City Council and University of Southampton.
We are looking for people who share our passion for theatre and our ambition for NST and its work. We value a diverse team and are keen to hear from individuals from all sectors of the community, including those who are new to non-executive/trustee board work and those with a proven track record in governance.
The Board meets approx. 6 times per year and you will also be invited to attend a number of press nights where you will have the opportunity to see new shows. Many trustees also sit on sub-committees or working groups often reflecting their strengths or interests.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) is recruiting for a Deputy Artistic Director to work closely with the Artistic Director (JCE) in the articulation and implementation of NST’s artistic vision and strategy. The fixed-term role is designed for directors, designers, writers and theatre-makers with a strong track record in their own practice, who want to learn about the role of an artistic director in cultural leadership.
NST is one of the UK’s leading producing theatre companies, led by Sam Hodges. NST develops and produces work with some of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic regional theatres. The Deputy Artistic Director is a new, fixed-term role, being created to respond to NST’s evolving place in the city, following the opening of NST City in early 2018. The Deputy Artistic Director will take a leadership role in the commissioning, developing and programming of work and activity across a range of formal and informal spaces whilst also overseeing the company’s artist development programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring artistic director to embed themselves within a producing theatre and its community and directly feed into all aspects of cultural leadership.

The Theatre Technician (Sound) is responsible for working across all aspects of the technical department, primarily Sound, for both Nuffield in-house productions, events and touring shows. This will include rigging, operating, maintenance and preparation of sound equipment and show running.

The Marketing Officer (Digital) is integral to this team, devising and managing campaigns with a working knowledge of all digital marketing channels - SEO, PPC, CRM, CMS, advertising, direct marketing, and social media. NST has ambitious goals in the areas of audience growth, revenue income and digital innovation. This role will play a major part in helping to realise them.
