Nuffield Southampton Theatres are delighted to be searching for two young actresses to join the cast of professional actors who will be creating The Audience in the role of a young Queen Elizabeth.
No prior experience is required, just confident 11- 14 year olds who are interested in being part of the production and live within an easy travel distance to Southampton (within thirty minutes’ drive time or a short train journey).
For 60 years, the Queen has met her Prime Minister every week. An audience at Buckingham Palace. Both parties agree never to repeat what is said. Not even to their spouses. The Audience is a play that charts the relationship between the Queen and her Prime Ministers throughout her life – including her younger days, from the writer of Netflix’s The Crown.
This new production, directed by NST’s Samuel Hodges, will be the play’s regional premiere and is the first staging since the smash West End production.
“Queen Elizabeth is an iconic role, at any age, and to play her in her youth is a wonderful opportunity. It’s an incredible chance for two young actresses to take to the stage in a professional production.”
