For our latest Experiment this Monday (8 May), we welcome two local writers, Sue Bevan and Kevin Wilson, from the Isle of Wight. Experiment is our quarterly scratch performance night that offers a range of exciting new pieces of theatre in development.
Sue Bevan is currently Artist-in-Residence at Ryde School and the co-founder of Seren Theatre Company. Her piece Still Waving is about the tough but important subject of assisted dying and explores one couple’s life and how it is changed forever when one of them is diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease.
Kevin Wilson founder of theatre group Origins Theatre will present his piece Fresh Start, which follows Alice who has finally had the chance to get rid of her abusive husband make a new start. Unfortunately, she is starting the cycle of a new abusive relationship with someone else.
Also joining our locals are Andrew Pepper from London who will perform an extract of a cabaret which could be in direct violation of the Russian gay propaganda law, and Hari Ramakrishnan from Bristol with An Indian Abroad which sees Krishnan coming to the UK to seek a spiritual awakening.
At Experiment artists present their work to test new projects; to ask questions about a piece; or to gather feedback from a friendly and constructively critical audience. Simmering with fresh ideas and diverse styles, Experiment is a melting pot for playwrights, companies and theatre-makers offering a compelling insight into the process of developing new work.
