Over the next few weeks we will be introducing you to the individuals who make up Nuffield Southampton Theatres; the people who make our company what it is; the team who programme must-see shows; those who teach young people and support the community; and the team who make sure to let you know what’s on!
Today, we get to know the team behind NST Youth Theatre (YT).
Liam Gifford, Youth Theatre Director
Liam has been part of the NST team since 2018 and as Youth Theatre Director he runs weekly sessions, rehearsals and directs shows in collaboration with young people. As well as working directly with our talented Youth Theatre, Liam visits schools and colleges across the community to deliver interactive workshops.
Fun fact: Liam once dressed up as a robot and danced for an hour in Trafalgar Square as part of Antony Gormley’s One and Other project!
Rosie Peters, Youth Theatre Assistant
As Youth Theatre Assistant, Rosie supports the smooth running of the weekly YT and Drama Club sessions and directs and assistant directs productions too. Most recently, Rosie worked alongside the extremely talented young people in the Youth Theatre to create Witches Can’t Be Burned – a production they are all incredibly proud of.
Fun fact: When Rosie was a child she used to ask for an elephant for her birthday every year, and she is still disappointed that she hasn’t been given one!
Joe Plumb, Drama Club Leader
Joe plans and delivers workshops for the fantastic young people who attend Drama Club every Saturday. Together, they have lots of fun taking part in teamwork activities that supports the development of the young people’s creativity. Joe also leads older groups as they work towards their annual performance in a production at NST.
Fun fact: Joe has his own traveling theatre company who perform out of the back of a converted horse box trailer!
Please do keep an eye on our social channels and website, as well as your inbox, to utilise resources that the team will be bringing out during our closure.
Check back next week to get to know another NST team!
