Southampton school children meet cast of West End hit Hetty Feather

More than 400 children from seven primary schools around Southampton met the cast of Jacqueline Wilson’s Olivier Award nominated West End hit Christmas show Hetty Feather at Nuffield Southampton Theatres Campus (NST Campus) on 30 November and 1 December, as part of NST’s three-year programme START, which provides affordable and exceptional arts experiences for children with fewer opportunities to engage with the arts.

NST’s START programme provided the children with tickets, transport, and workshops for Hetty Feather and gave them the opportunity to meet the full cast, including Phoebe Thomas (Holby City, BBC), who reprises the title role of Hetty following the show’s UK tour and critically acclaimed run at Vaudeville Theatre.

The START programme was created in 2006 by leading education charity Children & the Arts. Children & the Arts are supported with investment from Artswork, the South East area’s “Bridge” organisation, which is based in Southampton.

As a START partner venue, NST has been able to develop longer term relationships with Southampton’s Primary Schools to ensure that children from the least advantaged areas of Southampton get to experience high quality live theatre.
