Nuffield Southampton Theatres

The theatre is a great feel good night out and The Nuffield Southampton Theatres have something for everyone including new, upcoming musicals, comedy shows and exclusive screenings direct from the West End. Student tickets can be as low as £10 when a valid student ID is shown. Making the theatre a very cheap night out! Nuffield Southampton Theatres has two locations, one right by the university of Southampton. The other right in the heart of town surrounded by bars and restaurants.

Events coming up include Fleabag live screening direct from the West End, Amelie, the hugely anticipated new musical based on the film starring Hollyoaks hunk Danny Mac. Friendsical, the parody musical based on the much loved tv series, Friends. The Woman In Black, not for the faint hearted! And comedy from John Bishop. The Guardian has given five stars to the hilarious new production of One Man Two Guvnors, soon to be playing at the Campus. The show features live music and the action takes place right on the university campus. So not only is the show £10 for students, it’s also easily accessible. Meaning that you save a few pounds here and there for a drink in the interval!

West Quay shopping centre

Your favourite shops and restaurants all under one roof. Many shops offer discount for students and West Quay also hosts a student only shopping night. Student sessions is on the 3rd of October when discounts can be anything from 10% to 25% depending on where you shop or eat. There’s also going to be Dj’s, freebies and prizes.

Also for last minute back to uni/college esstienals. Remember your card can be used in Currys/Pc world and Apple for laptops, cameras, TVs, tablets, memory cards and hard drives. WHSmith also has student discount deals on stationary. EE also has 20% off for students and amazing deals on WiFi and mobile data.

 

The food shop

You can get 10% off your weekly shop at The Co-op, where TOTUM card holders get discount with every food and drink item (alcohol included).

Travel

The South Coast has some great destinations on the doorstep of Southampton. Portsmouth is just 30 minutes across the coast, you also have Bournemouth, London and Brighton in under two hours. Visiting friends and family is now affordable as the card offers a third off a full price train ticket. Megabus and National Express also do similar cards and deals.

Film

Film Fanatic? There’s 25% off the cinema for students at Odeon Cinema. The Odeon is located by the docks, has some discount restaurants surrounding it. The showcase luxe cinema has luxury reclining leather seats, Ben and Jerry’s and a Costa, making your cinema trip a little more special. As a student you can get off peak deals making tickets a little bit cheaper. If you’re near Ocean Village, a trip to the Picture House cinema is a great night out for special screenings. Student rates are available too and there’s a Wetherspoons across the road!

Ice breaker activities

Bowling is a great fun night out and Hollywood bowl offer great drink and bowl packages. Get 2 games for a set price and discounts when you book in advance.

We’re going to the Zoo! Marwell Zoo runs a bus from town or is a short drive away. Students get money off the entry free and can wander round the park, which is home to many animals. There are daily feedings and talks about the residents of the zoo daily, so a great little educational visit.

Houdini’s escape room is Trip Advisor’s number one escape room in the world. There’s a range of scenarios to pick from, including escaping from the sinking Titanic. Students get 15% off with a discount card.

Teamsport Go-Karting offer an adrenaline rush activity for £15 and after you’ve battled the track, you can have a hot dog and a beer for an extra fiver!

Don’t forget that we’re coming into winter season and Ice Skating will soon accompany the Christmas Markets.

Sport and leisure

You can get great offers at The Gym Group, the 24 hour gym in the centre of town. You can gain access to up to two of its gyms, meaning that if you have a gym group local to university and home, you only have to pay for one membership! Deals include up to 10% off certain memberships and set prices for the months you are at university (so no paying for it when you’re not there!).

Swim passes for The Quays swimming and diving centre are available for Solent students. Allowing them to swim during certain times at a discounted price. Similar schemes are also available at the University of Southampton. Passes are available through the sports centres at the universities.

If you’re after some danger while working out, the Boulder Shack Climbing Gym has great membership and student day rates. It has climbing courses for beginners and even courses for high performing climbers. You have to do an induction first to learn how to climb safely.

 

Restaurants, clubs and bars

Don’t fancy cooking every night? How about 30% off Pizza Express, 15% off All Bar One, free food at McDonald’s, 20% off Carluccios, 25% off Frankie and Bennies, 20% off Stable Pizzas, 30% off Dominoes. A lot of bars offer daily happy hours, 2 for 1 on cocktails and certain drinks. Get to the clubs early and you can benefit from no entry charge and drinks offers. Oceana has some cool themed nights coming up, as well as moving in parties featuring guest appearances. If you fancy treating yourself, you can get discounts on booths with alcohol packages.

The university student unions have live music nights, comedy and cheap drinks every single day. Also remember to check out your university’s Freshers fair for vouchers and the newest deals.
