When a little boy stumbles across a special star, he puts it in a jar and takes it on adventures. But the poor star misses its home…Can the little boy and his big sister find a way to send the star safely back?
A warm-hearted story, with music, that perfectly captures the friendship between two siblings; the lovely set design taking the action from park to school, and back home.
A brand-new theatre production created with the Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants Fund.
Sam Hay, author, said: “The story of Star in the Jar was inspired by my own son and daughter, so I’m utterly thrilled that it is to be adapted for the stage by the wonderful Pied Piper Theatre Company, to be shared with youngsters across the country. As a writer, it is a dream come true to have your work interpreted in different ways. Artist Sarah Massini did a magical job turning Star in the Jar into a beautiful book for Egmont. I can’t wait to see how The Pied Piper Theatre Company re-imagines the story for the stage.”
Amy Vaughan, Director, South East, Arts Council England, said: “It is so important that children have their imaginations fired – creativity is a huge part of that. It will be exciting to see Pied Piper Theatre take Star in the Jar from page to stage and I hope it will entertain and inspire children across England.”
