Mike Shepherd is joint Artistic Director of Kneehigh Theatre with Carl Grose. He started Kneehigh in 1980 from a desire to make surprising theatre in surprising places. He is a pioneer of the Kneehigh Asylum and passionately believes in the nurturing and power of creativity. Mike is proud to be actively associated with two other major south west companies - Wise Children and the Paraorchestra.

Work as actor includes: Wise Children, Ubu!, Tristan & Yseult, Steptoe and Son, Midnight’s Pumpkin, The Red Shoes,The Bacchae, Cymbeline, The Wooden Frock, A Matter of Life and Death, Don John.
Film includes: Anna Karenina and Pan.
Other work includes association with The Curious School of Puppetry and Good Chance Theatre with their temporary theatres of hope for refugees and Asylum seekers.
