In a remote part of the UK, where nothing ever happens, a group of teenagers share a safe house for LGBT+ young people. While their shared home welcomes difference, it can be tricky for self-appointed leader Birdie to keep the peace. The group must decide how they want to commemorate an attack that happened to LGBT+ people in a country far away.
Fast, witty, and emotional, DUNGENESS is about love – love for our family, love for our friends, and love for others in the face of all odds and opposition. How do you take to the streets and protest if you’re not ready to tell the world who you are? If you’re invisible, does your voice still count? What would you stand up and fight for? Love, commemoration, and protest shine through this extraordinary piece of new writing by Chris Thompson.
This will be a rehearsed reading, brought back to NST City for Southampton Pride 2019.
