Akin, an English Nigerian boy, adopted into a English family as an unconditionally loved son and brother. One traumatizing event during the baking hot summer of 1976 causes him to realize that he is faced with a very different future to that of his white brothers and sisters. It triggers a plucky struggle to come to terms with the reality of life and find his own sense of belonging and identity. Interspersed with original songs and late 70's/80's TV, film and music references that frame his tribulations. Some years later comes another significant day and the release of a powerful song. A song that is to symbolize far more to Akin than its writers and performers could ever have realized.
