A mother and daughter battle over her refusal to eat in this powerful one-act play until a mysterious stranger appears to solve the issue and resolve the situation.

The spiritual, psychological, societal and even the supernatural impacts of fasting are examined in this play, which looks our growing concerns about food and food production in the Western world.

‘The Fasting Girl’ was a recognised Victorian phenomenon; young women gained fame by not eating and were viewed as either saints or tricksters.
