Maria Clarke Movement Associate

A former professional West End dancer, Maria works as a movement director and choreographer for theatre and film. 

Maria’s movement and choreography theatre credits include: Babe (Mercury Theatre); Caught (Arcola Theatre); Thrill Me (UK tour); Dr Faustus (Cambridge Arts Theatre); Pride and Prejudice (UK tour); TimePlays  & Encounters with the Past (Hampton Court Palace); A Christmas Carol (The Bridge House Theatre); The Nine O’ Clock Slot (Red Gallery); Wild Horses (Theatre 503); The Misanthrope R&D (Everyman Playhouse); Macbeth (The Bridge House Theatre); This Story of Yours (Pentameters Theatre); When Lightening Breaks (Southwark Playhouse); In Flame (Sketchly Theatre); Absolute Hell (Embassy Theatre).

Film and television credits include: The White Princess (choreographer 10 episodes, Starz TV/USA); Alice Through the Looking Glass (period etiquette advisor, Disney feature films); The Great Fire, (period etiquette advisor & assistant choreographer ITV); Leonardo da Vinci – The Last Supper (BBC2); Far From the Madding Crowd, etiquette coach (DNA Films/Fox Searchlight).

Maria is a period etiquette advisor for theatre, film and leading cultural institutions. She has directed a series of short plays for the Servant Exhibition at the Geffrye Museum part of the V&A.  

Maria has an MA in movement studies from the Central School of Speech and Drama. She is an associate education practitioner for the Shakespeare’s Globe and a visiting lecturer drama schools and universities.
