Nuffield Southampton Theatres has entered a new phase in its history and you can now play a part in this vibrant Theatre company. We require enthusiastic Front of House Volunteers who will assist with ushering, customer service and retail. Full training and a uniform will be provided along with a host of fantastic benefits. Our Volunteer ushering scheme gives you the opportunity to meet new people whilst gaining invaluable arts experience and practical knowledge. Please note that you must be aged 16 or older to apply.


Volunteer Usher Open Day

We regularly hold Open Days to recruit new Volunteer Ushers. Come and meet the team and get more info about the great benefits there are to Volunteering. 

Our next Open Day will be on Wednesday 4th September at 2.30pm at NST City in Guildhall Square.

As we would like as many people as possible to hear about NST events, we run a volunteer distribution ambassador scheme.

We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers who can spare a few hours each month to collect brochures and leaflets from the theatre and distribute them in and around places in their local community.

As a thank you for your help we will be happy to offer you complimentary tickets to theatre shows at NST, subject to availability.

Theatre’s a tricky business and sometimes you need a little extra help to get your foot in the door, that’s where we come in.

EXTRA ADDED is an ambassadorship scheme aimed at giving students an opportunity to develop their skills and gain experience of working in a professional theatre company. 

As an EXTRA you will gain work experience, especially in marketing, in a professional producing theatre, with opportunities such as:

  • Enhancing your CV with work experience in arts marketing and transferrable skills
  • Bespoke career development advice 
  • Leaving with a reference from a top-class regional producing theatre
  • Opportunities to attend rehearsals, previews and press nights
  • Honorary membership to the Laboratory Network for your time as an EXTRA, with access to Grapevines, Playdates, and Experiments
